Letter to the Sky

by MissSideways   Dec 24, 2007

Weeping sky
Falling down upon me
Why do you cry, you awesome sky
with all the world below thee

Drizzling through the dreary clouds
Blue sky hazed in strips of grey
Tomorrow promised sunshine
but there'll be no warmth today

Do you mourn the dieing heart
Of all those hurt and aching
Or is it for the lies and cons
that rainbow smile you're faking

Do you grieve the unborn child
whose unborn heart is breaking
with unborn beats that fade away
without the chance of waking

Do you cry for things gone wrong
Below your huge sensation
Though your warmth did spread its wings
just not throughout this nation

Is it for the dirty deeds
that go unseen, but you
Trapped inside your silent scream
inside your sky of blue

Perhaps you weep to start again
to wash their sins away
or maybe in your weeping floods
you keep the beasts at bay

Do you shed a tear for those
who fail to see your glory
wrapped up tight in misery
that writes their lonely story

Do you ache the thund'ring woes
Of fruit fermented rotten
Of lovers cast in shadow land
Of memories soon forgotten

Cry you might for saddened eyes
For drugs that save, but kill
And every time the wind does change
do heavens tears stand still?

Earthly blue, so what say you
When sweetened hearts turn sour
When souls and homes are blown away
When wars are fought for power

Do you long to shield your eyes
behind a year long autumn
pretend you never saw these wars
and deaths of men who fought them

Leaking sky, please tell me why
you blue eyes feel so grey
tomorrow seems so hard to see
when you live for yesterday...

It's a mixed up, back to front, funked up kind of world.

    Wow...
This is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful yet filled with overwhelming sadness... Whole poem is original and filled with emotions. Truly deep piece, interesting and intense from the beginning to the end. Every stanza is greatly written.
I can't pick my favorite part, whole piece is simply amazing.
    Keep writing!
