Revenge By Heartworm

by Soulful Ensemble   Dec 28, 2007

I saw her at the cafe, and she has heartworm now,
She knows she'll be humanely euthanized, and suffers a silent vow.
"Euthanized for heart worm?" I asked myself,
"Well that just makes no sense."

She cuts herself and bleeds,
Theres no surprise in this.
The kind of man she needs--
Nobody knows if he exists.

I wonder just how deep she'll have to cut to kill the disease,
Its a matter of time before she reaches peace.
That infested man covered in fleas,
Whose revenge is killing her with ease
Now has got her on her knees.

The rusty dagger digs, but does nothing; its like cutting through the breeze,
And now she's dying faster and turning very slim.
She thinks of him and of his avenging disease,
And wishes she could go out for a swim;
But her body, weak and weary, is dreading all the seas.

Her ex-lover Cowboy Jim,
He put heart worm in her steak and cheese.
Why, when, or how?-- Ask him,
There he comes now with a smiling tease.

Oh! But she intercepts him,
And calls on to the man named Jim.
"Why did you do this?-- oh it feels so grim!"
"I'm gonna die-- I can't feel my limbs."

"Well I'm glad, dear girl,"
"That now you, too, know something of pain."
"And when you die I will dance and twirl,"
"Just like you did when I was slain."

"Slain?" she asks,
"I had to call it quits."
"You never let me smile and try on masks,"
"And always went on violent fits."

"Thats because you cheated!" said Cowboy Jim,
"I caught you with him! Don't you deny it."
"I don't deny it, i met eyes with him," she said,
"And, yes, i did submit."

"Ah, ha!," so you admit, he said,
And turned around throwing a fit.
"I'm done with you now baby,"
"I'll let you die now, maybe."

But then he committed a grave mistake,
He looked into her eyes and didn't see the snake.
He said, " alright, I've had enough, lets take a break,"
"I think I love you, and I'm awake."

He healed her illness and walked away,
And she followed him, running, with no delay.
Maybe she'll catch up and want to have him stay,
But she could be angry and want to have him slain.
