To Exist

by Tim Mauntler   Jan 2, 2008

I hear my name
As if something dear
I answer back
I tell him I'm here

To be here
To be existing
I feel I need a reason
Maybe a purpose listing?

Something to give meaning
A reason to live and love
So I cry out
To the Lord above

I ask Him for reason
I ask for the path
I stand back, ready
For my answer or His wrath

He tells me I'm foolish
To ask such a question
"To live and love others"
Should be your obsession

So I went on
I continued my day
I did what He said
Thankful I prayed

I get the feeling that you are one of those people who can sit down and effortlessly spill out something beautiful. And that's amazing. You have a way with words that hooked me right from the beginning, and I don't need to be a religious person to appreciate this.

The fifth stanza really stood out (and I see the person above agrees with me). I also particularly liked the second stanza, because I feel that every single person who reads this will feel that they can relate to it.

I would suggest adding punctuation, because I always feel I should suggest adding it if it isn't there. Keep up the great work, I truly enjoyed this read.

Boy this really made me stop and think! The 5th stanza really says it all!
