A life of regret

What is regret?
You wonder as is rises from your skin burning your flesh
It's the disappointments and the pain
The selfish pride and unfair reality
It's wanting to fall asleep but having fear that once your dreaming you won't want to wake up
It's the tear that collects but you wipe it off before it starts drizzling down your cheek
so nobody knows, nobody sees
It's the apology that will never be excepted and the stupid lie you can't take back.
It's what you base your life on when you realize you are a mistake that all you do is hurt the ones you love and your the essence of there pain sometimes there only weakness
You fight with yourself over if taking your own life
would take there pain away or cause it
regret is thats you'll never let go nor anyone else for that matter.
It's you the pain and aching you want to ease
and the life of i lie you want to loose.
It's all that you know a life of regret.

    Very well written, and a strong carrier of a fistful of emotion. I feel as though I can relate to this poem word for word at times. Regret is a heavy burden that we all carry at one point or another, and to some - the weight on our shoulder are unsurmountable. Good job. :)

    I absolutle enjoy free verse poems especially when the topic grabs the readers attention. This piece was easy to read throught and the message was very effective.
