Last Laugh

by Naila   Jan 10, 2008

Do you think I will follow your strategy?
Do you think I will not see through your trickery?
I,who have stood so much of life,
Life-did u really think I will fall for this hypocrisy?

I see what you are trying to do,
trying to pull me back to you.
Back-into the relentless jaws, the sunless deep
Back-into the ocean I'm about to leave.

Now that you rewind before my eyes-what do I see?
Not the ceaseless turmoil, the endless strife,
But the rare moments of carelessness,frolic,fun-
Mere snatches from another person's life.

The frames not round, constricted, like the barrel of my gun
But open,flowing-meadows dappled by the sun
Ah! those faraway days, the smiles.the plays
But now its all gone-washed away
By unending misery
Stifled by the rat race.

I can see you sneer, I know what you say,
Cynical, sadistic, lunatic, mad
Ha! But I'm not delusional, I'm not mad
I know the reality, I know all that won't come back

And I will not live like the rest of them-all hypocrites, two faced.
No!I will meet life head-on,straight
I will confront it-and I will succeed-even if I have to cut it in half
And as Life, smile fading, sees its final ruse failing
I will have the last laugh.
