Break the Ice

Break the Ice

She was so cold, so far away
Her breath left frost upon his face
Her steps fell soft against the ground,
As snowy eyelids drifted down

His heart beat wild, his breathing sped
He wished to crush her to his chest
But when they touched, his blood like fire,
She melted there, his heart's desire

So focused was he on his goal
No thought was giv'n her frozen soul
His passion burned with summer's edge
The ice did thin, on which he tread

Her skin was warm and flushed with rose
So proud was he that change he chose
'Til her last breath broadcast her end,
And through the ice they, broken, went.
