Patchwork Dreams 1-30-01 (Song)

by Phil Laws   Jan 19, 2008

We chance upon coincidences daily
Let lust confuse the truth about the way we
Get along, to bluff in a desiring game
To feel we belong and think we are the same
In those whispers of a look and a tone
I could forget everything I have known
In promises of a smile and a lean
I could get lost and imagine the scene
Since we've not
The strength to say
That we might
Unstitch the seams
Patchwork thoughts
In lengthy play
Loosely right
To hitch our dreams
As we bless
Unknown patterns
And we cope
To force a match
In madness
The bobbin turns
In our hope
Ignore the past
On rummy shields
I watch inspiring lights dance
And I respond
Though not prepared to fight chance
To begin
That I savor these thoughts of peace
That I'm holding in
That I'm fearing release
In those whispers of a look and a tone
I could forget everything I have known
In promises of a smile and a lean
I could get lost and imagine the scene
We cling so tight
To hopes presumption has drawn
And in our fright
Preference is all forgone
Just to please
A little lovin's lived upon
And some more ease
Is less than leads us on
In those whispers of a look and a tone
I could forget everything I have known
In promises of a smile and a lean
I could get lost and imagine the scene

I like this part. I think we can all get lost in someone or something and forget the moment.
