Oh beautiful for ignorance... 4-16-97

Oh beautiful
For ignorance
The shy boy walks the street
Feeling so free to feel dumb
Surrounded by freedom
With one toy he bought
And the free one he got
Pondering with more power
Than all his college degrees
On life with misunderstanding
Tutored and tortured with guesses of deaths meaning
And final destinations
Or spiritual rest-stops
Religious park-n-rides
He devours a recent conversation
With the lonely espresso girl
Grasping to identify with anything
She told a tale of her personal beliefs
That she is too much alike John Lennon to not believe in reincarnation
He had abruptly told her that "If not for the fact that Terry Gilliam has been alive his whole life he would be more inclined to understand her grasping at straws"
"Perhaps Michelangelo lives next door with the awkward hands of a twelve year old boy, And just maybe his older sister, the one no one seems to understand, once played the part of Rasputin"
