Arisen from a Rose 5-21-95

by Phil Laws   Jan 20, 2008

Walking through the garden of my days
I found my only flower
A rose
Fire and Ice
Both beautiful and soothing
Fire, warmth, comfort
Cool, relieving Ice
One touch
Though that was not the vessel of my pain
Wanting to bring beauty to my home
Give it all I could
Love, comfort, beauty, relief
What kept it away
Burning - Sizzling - Not passion - Pain
Melting my frostbitten digits
Cracking bones
Frozen from fear of freedom
I can't find my heart in the high weeds of my garden
My rose
Nourished through ashes and dust
My skin is untouched
Except by tears
While my soul tumbles
Crumbles inside
