Are We Still Just Monkeys?

by Soulful Ensemble   Jan 23, 2008

Hurry, we have another day
To break apart and go away.
Lets end this pain of ours
That goes on for hours and hours.

I've waited so long for you
To say what I think, too.
That every thing is over
And we have no time for lovers.

I met somebody new
While you found yourself.
You know we're through;
I'm putting you on a shelf.

Are we still just monkeys
Waving our hands and shaking our hair?
Are we only honey bees
Floating by through air?

If you ask me I'd have to think
Because what I see looks meek.
I'm so confused and I shrink
At the sight of a single peak.

What I see scares my brain,
And It breaks my heart.
We perpetuate pain
And it tears us apart.

Why are we still together?
I don't want you anymore.
Don't speak of the weather
We're not going to the shore.

You need to realize
That you want to be free.
I'm holding what you idealize
Down; to the bottom of the sea.

Are we still just monkeys?
Or is it even worse?
Monkeys know what they need
We seem to just reverse.

Nice use of words, would benifit from a steadier rhythm but, on the whole, very nice.
