A rabbit called milo

by June   Jan 24, 2008

Yes go ahead and laugh before I start ,
Milo is my rabbit and my comfort too.
Let me tell you how I came to have a rabbit ,
till last year we never had 1 dog but two.

Sadly I had to have my old dog put down ,
my old dog I had for about 11 years after he turnt up at my mums house.
We discovered that he had been thrown from a car the night before ,
hiding in mums garden scared and as quiet as a mouse.

I had to do the right thing and call the dog warden ,
and so he was taken to the kennels for a week.
We visited him a few times and no one claimed him ,
so we decided to re-home him because if not his future looked bleak.

Last year at the pretty good age of 14 years old ,
he got poorly and the vet said to be kind best we can do is put him to sleep.
Yes I still have my other dog who is great fun and full of life ,
and I love him to bits but tears for my old boy I did weep.

To cheer me up my partner wanted to get me something ,
and he knew has a child I had kept rabbits for years.
So to my surprise a rabbit is what he got for me ,
a rescued one he is all white with big floppy ears.

The rescue centre had named him Russell ,
no offence to anyone whos name that is but its no name for a rabbit.
Its not the same I know as a dog and could never replace my old boy ,
but he is a comfort and I love him more than just a little bit.

He has got these georgous red eyes and loves to be cuddled ,
he is so soft to stroke with fur as white as snow.
Ok so I can't take him out for walks over the field ,
but the gap he's filled since my old dog went is filled with joy that only I know.
