Reflections

by Darkening Dawn   Feb 1, 2008

One day, you'll look in the mirror
and see my broken reflection
that haunts the memories of the past
You'll remember who I was
The shadow of a person
Will you remember me if I leave?
In this world of double meaning,
what can we see that's true?

The broken mirror reflects the gaunt image
that looks out upon the world
reflecting passer bys
Illusions, bound to perception
take meaning to different eyes
Faces change to the different paths used
It was on a long path you encountered me
A translation of self, a contrasting image
of past and future bound to the shadowing present

Dreams lie shattered like shards of glass
as bloody hands fumble to piece them together
as the struggles cease to move
and wait silently in the closing dark
