Blind Society

by Darkening Dawn   Feb 1, 2008

Looking at the picture
of broken bodies littering the street
The eyes of soldiers
look past the pain to do their duty
Instead they turn their eyes to the tattered flag
that hangs limply against the burning sky
Smoke rises as we watch out world burn
and we find to energy to make the change
to make a difference
as the burdens of our days pile up
Our eyes mirror what we see
but we pass it as fiction
and cease to believe
Those that are breaking around us
are hidden
by the blindfolds we put around our eyes
and all we hear
is soft dripping of life
blind to the pool of blood at our feet
In our society
that chokes life
