Curtain fall

by Darkening Dawn   May 5, 2007

When the curtain falls
it will not be the end
just a pause;
a moment where a small piece
of the world may stop;
a moment of silence
but it will not hesitate for long
among many, one is a forgotten number
a name among countless others
a candle, frail, short lived,
quick to be forgotten
replaced by another soon after
the life has left the last
never again to be relit.

Some may remember the brief flicker,
the passing wind
a minor part in a colossal play

Now as the Sun sets here
it will rise again
tomorrow
with another
