    Lol...

im kind of a mixed opinion. I have 7 dogs and 6 cats. =) well, i used to have 6 cats (my cat got pregnant and had 5 kittens) but my dad gave the kittens away, and then the cat ran away.

^ Wow, 7 dogs?! Your house must be hairy! =P

I prefer dogs over cats, but I really love them both. I have a German Shepherd dog called Meg. I'm actually allergic to a lot of animals, though. It's weird, I have to be around an animal for ages for me finally stop sneezing and itching because of them. O.o It's quite annoying, but it doesn't stop me loving animals.

Original Poster: Wow! That is one old kitty.

Ahh, I'm not going to be able to choose. I like dogs (real ones, not the ones that look like rodents) because they are so dang happy, goofy, loyal, sloppy, obedient.... and yet I love cats because they're... well... not. They have attitude. My cat Ribh and I have the same personality. Vain, affectionate - but only on her terms - curious, and a bit of a spaz. I just like animals in general.

Cats...I have a history of being attacked by dogs. Cats are normally more gentle plus not a lot of work and attention has to be given to them

Cats are smarter I believe too. I also love all animals (ok - just see Jane's post and that pretty much sums me up too) except I've had a bad experience with cats - got an old cat I rescued from some farm where they wanted to put her down - she was a bit wild. I paid to get her desexed and after having her two weeks, paying $300 to desex her, nursing her back to health, she ran away and never came back. :( I even read books on how to get cats adjusted to a new area (putting a bit of marg on their paws when they go outside, makes them lick their paws, they smell and taste the new area which gets them accustomed to it etc - and still the little blighter took off. I used to see her every now and again years later (left food out for her too and a nice blanket in the winter for her to sleep on) but she was just too independent to be "owned".

I almost got into a legal battle with the vet on that one too - the vet desexed her even tho she was pregnant (so technically gave her an abortion) so I flipped out and said they should have called me and asked what I wanted to do if she was pregnant (as I would have kept the kittens - why rescue a cat only to kill its litter?!?!). So then I refused to pay the bill, the refused to release the cat, etc etc - the woman was quite a nut job. Bea-tch.

^ It happens. Because a breed is domestic does not mean that all of the cats of that breed are. All of my cats are rescue cats, and believe me, we've owned 20-30 in my lifetime. One cat we rescued was untamable. We could have broken him--made him a strictly indoor cat or something, but my family isn't into animal cruelty. He hasn't been inside our house since he was a kitten, a week after we rescued him off the streets eating potatoe chips. With plenty of patience, you can get close enough to pet him...but that's it. We leave food out for him morning and night and he spends hours a day sitting outside on the windowsill of our living room, looking in. He has a wild heart. One whose spirit cannot be broken. Hahaha. That, or he's claustrophobic.

Oh, just a side note: We have a cat door so the cats can go in and out as they please.

Well. Farhad has this 'thing' with kittens. But I love cats and dogs equally. So, once we're married and have children, he'll have an Egyptian Mau and I'll have an Alaskan malamute puppy :)

Yeah it didn't help tho that we had a dog as well so we kept her inside (as we had to because she had stitches in her and needed to be nursed) and she would let me pet her (but not my husband - haha) and I'd talk to her for hours, but yeah once she escaped and I saw her around - I just let her be and she's happier being wild. She's a survivor tho for sure.

The best thing she did was claw the stupid vet who aborted her babies when she picked her up to give her back to me! Awww poor little Mogwai.

I love dogs, but as someone posted above, smarter? I don't know about smarter, as the puppies get under my feet lots of times, trying to make me fall (and I'm pregnant), not good. So, its a struggle at times..

BUT... I love ALL my dogs: 2 adult dogs; fox terrier and jack russell, and 2 puppies Fox Terrier/Jack Russell Mix.. They're all cuties.
