Like i find it quite interesting the basic ways the elements behind each sign are said to interact. Water sign enriching the earth ones etc etc.

Astrology is f-in awesome in my book.

If you really REALLY get knitty gritty with it, there is no denying its ability to dictate personality traits.

IMO astrology is a load of crap.

You trying to tell me of the billions of people in this world we can be put into 12 groups? I think not. I dont believe that another planet or star can affect my life in any way. It's all just another desperate attempt to justify our meaningless existance.

Well you know what they say Fowler...you cannot talk theory with a sceptic.

And as far as the friends and partners things being nothing but a coicedence. I really don't think so...and i'm perfectly aware of the human need to attribute meaning to life as a means to feel safe.

Could it possibly be that the qualities i find most attractive in people...and these are the things that ALL my favourite people in the world possess, hence the best friend and partner tag...are found with strange regularity in People who always turn out to be Picean. One of the tenants of Astrology is that there are aspects of each star sign which show themselves in the personalities of each person in a very recognisable way...regardless of the person belief in the idea.

I've had quite a few partners, and several very close friends...and i don't pick them after i find out their star sign. Strange and true....but yes, maybe just a coicedence.

Ok so lets say for argument sake there are 12 billion people in the world... and there are 12 star signs... so basically what you are saying via even distribution 1 billion people should be in each star sign? right?

So that you have had what? 10 partners all picians? 10 out of a billion doesnt make it rare. The odds arnt that bad that you can pick 10 partners to all be the same star sign out of a billion possabilities.

I would much rather talk about your animal than star sign, I find it a little more acurate and slightly more interesting.

You say its a science!... well i will point out to you that it is NOT, repeat NOT, a science.

In a science, when you do an experiment, you will get the same results each time if you dupicate the experiment. If you go out and buy 4-5 papers with astrology in them, they each give you a very vague description that is nowhere close to what the others say. So by dupicating the experiment here you have got totally different results. That is NOT science.

I'm sick of everyone claiming stupid things are a science. Astrology is just another one of those things believe because its semi-spiritual... But dont go claiming its a science when it isnt.

As for the personality traits being true, my friend and i are both saggy-hairy-ass and we have totally different personalities... Its a joke that you think that out of everyone in the world you think there are 12 different personalities based on stars... yeah ok, i can gather 13 people iin a room and they will all have different personalities...

Although to be fair....... the news papers probably make the horoscopes up

But if you look at reeeeal! as in properly done horoscopes then they ar sometimes amazingly true!

But i have a friend who is really into it, and we she had 2 professional reading on the same day, cos she was upset about her b/f and wanted to know if she will find love again... one said she will but when she is older, the other said she will get back with her old partner and to keep trying with him... if that isnt completely different i dont know what is.

No it's not a science. I dont care how many times you try and claim it to be it isnt. Do you see an astrologer winning the nobel prize for science? NO! Do you hear your science teacher talking about astrology? NO! Just like feng sui, palm reading, fortune telling and scienceology are not sciences!

You cannot call it a science, because it just isnt. I would love to see you try and put forward astrology as a science to the national board of science. Then we can all watch them laugh in your face.

The nature of science is to find hard facts based on experiments. Astology is all guess work. There are no hard facts to astrology. If you could "read" the stars and tell me in 45 minutes im going to fall over and break my leg then i will believe it is a science. As for your vauge descriptions, they are nothing but another form of cold reading and gyess work.

Yeah, I agree with Fowler. My birthday is pretty close to the split between two signs, so if I was born a few days earlier would I have a completely different personality now? I think people read horoscopes to get a boost of confidence. If it says it'll be a good day for love, you'd be more confident to ask that special someone out, right? If your sign says you have a certain trait, you're going to look obsessively for it in your life. In a way you force yourself to make your star sign describe you. I've seen my sign description and sure, a few random things match, but I match stuff from my friends' different signs. So it doesn't really make sense in my mind.
