This saying infuriates me so much now! Everything is changing and it's all pitiful. A holiday tree? What?! And I don't if anyone has heard they might be changing the aged old Christmas carol "God bless ye merry gentlemen .. " into "God bless ye merry people .." What is going on in the world???
    Baa baa LITTLE sheep?
    Gingerbread FOLK?
Woman becoming WOMYN to separate it from Man???
    Deferred success instead of fail???

    What is going on????

too many people complain about the little things so people did something about it and now i bet those people who complained are just complaining about the changes!

baa baa little sheep is just silly, no one actually thinks that song has any racist connotations so whats the point?

do any women here actually get offended by 'gingerbread men' or 'god bless ye merry gentlemen'?

    "Exam question:

Nagasaka and Obingwae wondered what would happen if they mixed magnesium with hydroiodic acid (as you do).

They noticed a opposite of white powder left at the bottom of the test tube. What was this powder?"

Now I DO know this ...

"do any women here actually get offended by 'gingerbread men' or 'god bless ye merry gentlemen'?"

    Nope!

Political correctness is a load of BS we have a minister in parliament who is the 'anti PC minister' and tries to abolish it. We only started getting PC from trying to copy the States

ya in Boston they made it a law that the xmas tree they have every year is no longer an x-mas tree but a holiday one. And it's because someone actually complained! Jezz, the mayor had a fit though and refused to call it a holiday tree. Seriously, should a menorah (sp? sry..) be called a "holiday candle"?? arg people these days, so sensitive. In my agenda book theres a drawing of lots of hands joining together they had all different colors, but I didn't see any with freckes. My gosh they are totally discriminating against those of us not blessed with perfect skin....OMG im gunna freaking sue.

LOL, those are so funny! As for the science exam question, I understand it, it's like that for all our exams also - so pathetic. Like we're really worried about the racial implications of someones name in the middle of an exam anyway.

PC pisses me off, too. We can't say this and we can't say that just incase we offend someone elses religion or beliefs. Try visiting a country or living in a country like Greece for example. They don't give a toss for your religion or your beliefs. If you don't like what they do, you leave the country. That is what we should be like.

  • Mel

    I'm a bigYorkshireman - that's simpler.

Political Correctness is walking on egg shells for people who don't give a flying f**k for this country or that country. The one's who we're PC to aint PC back.

The primary school where my mum works wasnt allowed to do the nativity this christmas... or make christmas cards in classes... and to a certain point i can see why some people who arn't christians may not want to have to make xmas cards BUT...

Just the week before.. the children had a big thing for hanukka... the month before...made divali lamps and had recently put on a play showing the story of Muhammad or something like that.

Why is it that OUR traditions and OUR cultures have to be made PC yet other cultures and their traditions that are being tought to children are unaffected...

    it isnt fair...

  • ღ*KiM*ღ

Really? I would have complained about it! We had a teacher a little while ago who filled in for head teacher, and she was Jewish so we weren't allowed a Christmas tree, but we heard all about the Jewish traditions.

political correctness has gone too far i can see the good intentions behind it however i dont think anyone would be offended because somebody said the word 'black' when describing a sheep in a nursery rhyme! to be honest i find THAT more racist the fact that the sheep can't be black whats that about?

  • Vegetable

people who are offended by such trivial things must have had awful childhoods. A spanish substitute didn't let us say negro (black) because it offended. Its a word for goodness sake. I would understand not wanting to be called nasty names, that is your right. But jeez! I don't understand how you can function in this world if you wince when someone sings "baa baa black sheep" people need to suck it up.

  • Cut~Up~Angel

Yeh i think people just go overbord.. trying to make it so the world is fair and we dont get people discriminating cos of things like race or gender.. but i think that changing all these names just gets alot of peoples mad and so in a way makes it worse..

I mean look at how many peoples are going to be annoyed if traditions like christmas trees and the nativity change... wont that just make race hate worse?

Having a black/coloured/different race family (whatever is PC to say) i know that they dont get ofended by silly things like "baa baa black sheep"

and come on.. does "baa baa opposite to white sheep" reeeally sound as good??

    Hum, it is weird.
I guest you have to really be a feminist to want to change those sort of things.
Personally, I think it's great, the fact that a woman was made out of a man.
You know, Eve made out of Adam's rib...
I myself don't want to change any of these things, and about the gingerbread man, well, he's the one getting eaten.

Some People Argue Over Things They Feel Are "Politicaly Inccorect", And According To The Constitution 95% Of The World Is Politicaly Inccorect, Everyone Hasn't Caught On To That Yet, But I Have....I Feel Thats Its Stupid To Change Things We've Become Acustomed To, If Its a Free Country We Should Have The Right To Just Do As We Please, Sing As We Please And Not Have To Watch Our Step Or Change Our Ways To Become "Politcaly Correct"....This Is a Very Limited World, Let No One Tell You You've Got Freedom xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

PC language was created by people who seek to force their beliefs on others and through the power of language seek to bend others to their will by labeling them as assholes or troublemakers if they resist the alleged PC language. Resist it all, at all costs. Say what you mean and mean what you say. I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not.

My son, a devote athiest, says the pledge of allegance every day, he just skips "under god". When his teacher asked him why he says it at all, since he is athiest, he told her, "because I love my country". I don't agree with his belief, but I will support him 100% as he is willing to make a stand for what he believes (he is not celebrating Christmas and for a teenager to pass on the greatest gift getting day of the year, you have to have conviction). His belief isn't PC and has created a stir at school (we live in a conservative, christian area), but I will support his right to believe what he chooses.

Just say "no" to PC behavior.

I've never heard of any of those things changing.
But the government IS trying to make the world more diverse and give people equal powers..
I guess that means making them feel better by a separate name...

  • ScarletHaze

by doing stuff like these arent they just creating problems? i mean come on most people wouldnt even consider things as racist if it wasnt made to look that way

and ismail how is it giving everyone equal rights when we cant even sing baa baa black sheep without being considered a racist bastard?

Here in good old England, ST. George's day goes by almost unnoticed. Any hint at flag flying or partying is almost frowned upon.

The Irish have theirs; the Welsh sing to their hearts content - but not the English. This is another form of PC.

And another thing, In summer the parks are filled with this cultural festival and that cultural festival all celebrating their uniqueness - which is fine, but you try and organize a festival that represents 'Englishness' and you'll find yourself on the front pages of the tabloids and maybe in court. I'm beginning to hate this repressed country

We were joking around in math today, telling this girl that instead of singing "O Christmas Tree" we have to sing "O Nondenominational-winter-holiday tree". I mean, come on, it doesn't have the same ring to it (although it's fun to try to sing it at the same pace as the other one).
If you're offended by it, don't sing/pledge/say it!

I've also noticed on our school calendar, it's been changed to WINTER break, but there are happy little pictures of Santa and reindeer decorating it.

There is no such thing as politically correct to me. Like people trying to take "Christ" out of "Christmas" and changing it to "X-mas." Now if that Holiday is about Christ, what is the sense in changing it?

It's come to the point where Walmart and Kmart can't say Merry Christmas. It's now, happy holiday. Company's like FUBU exist and people can't put up Nativity scenes without buying a plot of land.

There doesn't seem to be much equality anymore.

  • Jackie Bilson

Ha. I didn't even know that's why they took out the Christ in Christmas to make it Xmas. LOL. I always just thought it was just a shorthand. I'm so dumb.

Morgan, you should watch the documentary Super Size Me.
It will give you better insight into why McDonald's have stopped super-sizing.

Personally, I will never eat there again.

I'm no fan of McDonald's but the movie Super Size Me was absurd. How can someone go to McDonald's or any fast food hamburger place 3 times a day and eat super-size portions of the most artery-clogging food they serve and not expect their health to show some serious signs of deterioration? What if someone went on 3 meals a day of potato chips and ice cream? Should they expect to remain healthy? And should the ice cream and potato chip manufacturesrs be blamed for the consequences?

Political Correctness was ceated by racist people to give *insert given minority* an elevated position in life over the majority.

Short people are NOT vertically challenged, they're short.

Bald people are NOT folicly challenged, their hair fell out.

Disabled/crippled/paralysed folk are NOT differently abled, they're Disabled/crippled/paralysed.

If you think I am wrong and saying such things hurts people's feelings then you're just feeding the fire and weakening the back bone of society.

Problem is this: A minority is only a minority if you embrace it. If you want a world free of racism (never going to happen by the way) then you need to get rid of things like affirmative action, which is biased in favour if colour over ability (which is racist to the extreme) and other bits and bobs like that which promotes segregation of creed and colour.

F*ck political correctness in the ear sideways. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah what ever's your poison. But, if you're not Christian or Jewish and you celebrate, give gifts, sing songs of a festive nature and throw parties at this time of year then you're nothing short of a bloody idiot and a hypocrite.

    Rant out.

The Xmas thing is not what you think.

    http://www.coffeeswirls.com/archives/2003/12/12/the-meaning-of-xmas/

    Origin of X in Xmas

I never thought I’d be posting something like this on this blog. I had rejected the very notion of Xmas as a way for people to remove Christ from the holiday just as so many are trying to remove Him from every other facet of our lives whenever they can, but here it is. Xmas is legit!

I spoke with my friend Scott about this matter, and at first I was opposed to the very concept of using the term Xmas for the reasons mentioned above, but he let me in on some little known info, as well as the above link. (link here: http://www.christmaspast.info/forums/Main01/messages/647932485.html )

IXOYE is explained as the Greek word for “fish” and is also an acronym. I=JESUS, X=CHRIST, O=GOD, Y=SON, E=SAVIOR. Check out the link for more info. That X, though, means Christ, and so it means something in Xmas.
