I started writing poetry during the darkest time of my life; when I was ready to implode. I wasn't good at it but I did have a natural talent of finding some beauty in thoughts that were so dark and lifeless. I quickly found that it had some theraputic value and continued with it just as that...therapy. I never thought for a second I'd be any good at it but it was helping me so I kept it up. Eventually, the fog cleared and I was even better able to concentrate on those things and feeling I found were so beautiful within me. I just knew I had to share those things with others and I developed a way and style that came to reflect some measure of that.

It's up to book sales and others in places like this now but the therapy goes on and is so rewarding.

Poetry to me are the doorways into a persons soul. Poetry is a release mechanism. Poetry is human emotion at its purest. Poetry is your best friend, you can depend on poetry, poetry is always there for you when you need it. Poetry is in your blood, metaphorically speaking. Poetry to me ... is a way of life.

I think for me personally, it is expressing yourself in pure emotion through words on paper. Hm... does that make sense? I guess what I mean is just being able to put your emotions and thoughts into words. Poetry is basically my therapist. I think I'd be insane if I couldn't write, because it's the only way I can truly get all these emotions from my mind and heart onto a piece of paper and really understand what it means.

    It means everything to me!

I could talk to people with the same problems.. And it makes me free. It´s really good for people who never shows their feelings in the oudside of the world.

    Poetry to me?

    .. A Whole New World ..

Year 12 is hard ;[ And I travel here for relief and expression of anger, stress, love, confusion, happiness, depression, and even just to express a thought I have in my head.

To me..Poetry is a feeling of your thoughts, they are your emotions written in words, It lets out everything you have kept inside and lets you express yourself, I also believe that it tells about who you are and what your experiences in life have been. ^-^

Poetry is putting your emotions, ideas and experiences in beautiful form to express ourselves to others.. Poems are like puzzles.. they don't give you all the details...they reveal something and we should step in someone's shoes to fill in the missing pieces of puzzles..

Poetry is the language of our soul, art of our hearts, production of our imaginations, recorded dreams of our mind...

Poetry is a way to express my feelings when I don't know how to tell others. It is a way for someone to look into my soul and see the real me. My poetry can explain things better than even I can.

I agree, Poetry is a form of art and as I have said in another Topic very similuar to this, Art is not what we see but what we make others see.

Poetry is my excape from life. Heck, Poetry IS life for me. I enjoy it so much and anytime i'm sad about something, I wont be sad about it for too loong because I can just write. And it automatically relives all my pain. I LOVE poetry

Poetry means so much to me that i can only express the way i feel about it by writing it in poetry.

  • Ray Lanthier

I agree that one isn't born spouting good poetry, though you could fool me, with the almost global cacophany that gets touted as poetry in 'spoken word' venues. As in any art form, there is a component of talent, and a component of acquired skill. It's as simple as that. There are examples of incredible poets who are very young like Arthur Rimbaud, John Keats... who were writing superior works at a tender age - like Mozart

I don't want to sound cheesy but poetry is my way out. when things get too hard for me i sit and write, and whatever sounds good stays, and if its bad i'll save it for impovement later.

  • Wolf Haines

I dont use it as a way out, i usually go on walks etc to do that. BUT i do use poetry to record my emotions/feeelings/experiences through certain periods. It's more of a creative diary then anything else.

This is a quote. You didn't use quotation marks, so you're selling their words as your own. This is Copywrite.

It can mean almost nothing and it can be more than everything. Strange creature, poetry is.
