Get real, Metallica have been more innovative than the one note song wonders of Maiden.

Maiden are boring, every album sounds the same and they hardly ever try to break new grounds.

This coming from an Englishman I'm almost ashamed of myself, but Metallica out shine Maiden in every department. Ulric turned drums from a time keeping device into an instrument of its own right (even if he is a dick, he was THE drummer for years and years and years and probably still is.).

But the real question is why didn't you say Black Sabbath? Everyone knows they are the fathers of metal and therefore the best.

Metallica`s first five albums are masterpieces like no others.

Sabbath have done more for metal than metallica and maiden combined

Iron Maiden are the spare Ribs of Metallica.

Way back in the day, when Electric guitars were just getting started, with a weird thing called "overdrive" first heard on a beatles song...a guitarist was listening to random noises on film effects reel to reels and he was entranced by the sound of whales singing...and he wondered

"how can I get that low, dirty, but powerful sound into a guitar?"

Metal Music was born.

I don't really listen a lot to it, but I think Metallica is more the king of metal, cause I've heard so much more about them, and everyone seems to think they rock.

I think that's just because Hetfield is a shameless self-promoter. But, to each his own.
I don't really care for either one.
Though The Donnas and some other bands have covered Maiden very well.

Load is so underrated. It's disliked because it goes against the grain, the trait that got Metallica popular in the first place.

load ain't that bad, it's just not up to a decent metallica standard, they can do waaaaay better, which they proved before, and proved a bit with st anger, so let's hope for the future :)

Definately Metallica.

Their first four to five albums were AMAZING. Nothing, in my opinion, can compare to those master pieces. lol!

Yes, OZZY is undisputably the KING OF METAL!

Why don't you just take it a step further and say that Ozzy's band is the king of metal? His guitarists basically made his music what it is.

ps Metallica is better than Maiden. Well, I personally think that anything is better than Maiden. Haha. Hell, I don't even really like Metallica, but they're definitely better.

Tommy Iomi is the grand daddy of metal as we know it.

But being the grand daddy does not make you king.

Kirk Hammet is, without doubt the most gifted metal guitarist I have heard. Maybe not the best overall guitarist, but the best in his field.

Innovation is the key, not just raw talent.

But the true king of Metal died in 1986.

I think that Metallica are too American to be the kings of metal (no offense to any Americans out there).

If you do alot of research, you'll find out verrrry quick that many more "kingly" bands were bourne from European and Scandanavian countries.

But, that being said, I think that Maiden just plain suck too much to be the King band of metal.
