Can you eat in public?

i went out tonight for my sisters 18th as we where eating i found it hard to but the food in my mouth like there was a barryer in the way. its happened to me before in town i had to get away from every one to be able to eat i no longer eat lunch at school and only eat infrount of my family and even then sometimes it feels wrong:s
I also had to eat chicken off the bone and i hate this anyway but it nearly made me cry useing so much energy just to eat one portion of chicken i felt so stupid and childish.
Does any one else have this problem if so how do you get over it cos its putting me off food and i am 16 and weight 7.2 and i cannot afford to lose anymore weight or i will get ill and i dont want that again i been in hospital before because i cannot put any on
can anyone help me im worryed

i get self concious sometimes when i eat around certain people. mainly because i want to show good manners and not have barbeque sauce dripping down my face.

i don't know what to tell ya. i say don't care about what others think but that is almost impossible for us teenagers.

personally my problem is i have to make sure i'm clean. i hate it when someone says that there is someone in the room who stinks. i always feel self conscious about that.

what you are going through is perfectly normal. but don't let it forsake your health.

Some food can even make me feel sick just thinking about putting them in my mouth like mushrooms *shudders*

My friend cant eat in front of any type of male species because she thinks it makes her look fat...

but i think if really bothers you then talk to a doctor. I really think its psycho-mological.

I have weird phobia's about eating in public... I'm fine if I have been drinking alcohol and eating some sort of fast food stuff... But can not eat in restaurants or infront of new people or people I don't know... Even infront of people I do know [other than my immediate family] makes me feel uncomfortable and I just don't eat... Difference being I know where my eating phobia comes from... When You get the ruler across your knuckles on three different occassions in the dining room, in front of the whole school in primary school when you're really shy and quiet anyway, for eating with your knife and fork in the wrong hand I guess it may have some sort of negative impact on you lol... [I still eat with my knife and fork in the wrong hands tho hehe]

i suppose just eat more at home. i really dont know what to say. just eat hun. forget what ppl may think of ya.

I cant. well not in front of my friend. but i can eat in front of ppl i don't know at all or my family.

Of course I can eat in public. But I can't eat if a lot of people is staring at me hehe.

Haha same as ^... i can eat in public, except when people stare @ me.. that gets me mad.. but yeah... and a lot of people cant eat in front of their boyfriend/girlfriend- i can tho, bc guys/girls like to see that their significant other is comfortable around them <3 :]

What...your just eating, its not like it's anything personal you have to worry about.

Yes I can eat in public.. i don't care how messy i am when i use my fingers, picking up noodles and dropping them in my mouth disrespectfully.. why the heck should i be self concious about people watching me? i mean it's their problem not mine. they're the ones who choose to watch me while i eat. geeez- maybe they don't have anything else to do in life.. i really don't care anymore cuz i got too much to worry about and eating is the only thing i can do right.

I just think- Hey- I'm hungry. They're hungry. They're eating. I'm eating. It's human! Just eat and forget about it.Take smaller bites and chew long enough and nothing embarassing should happen. Just eat please!

Duh. Of course I can. That's about the only place I get food is in public.

Here is a few tips for eating in public:
Take food.
Put said food in mouth.
Chew said food with said mouth.
Swallow said food.
Digest said food.
Use toilet later in free time.

That simple. Enjoy your new found public eating ability.

YES! but my cousin has a problem doing that, so I understand the people who don't like to. I just really don't mind. People always give me weird looks because I am pretty skinny and I always eat a lot! I think they all wonder where it all goes, just like it do :)

I believe she means 7.2 stones. It's the British system for measuring peoples weight.
