Alright, if you all want to go about talking about religions and saying how offensive this can be, go ahead. I'm not stopping you from speaking your mind clearly about anything. Just don't make any threats and keep it clean.

    Ask me why?
Because in our religion it says that,if you talk about and try to solve your religion, you are considered as sinner ans the thing you do is getting against god

My religion says to believe without questioning and comparing
Or that's what people always thought

Oh god, someone close my mouth lol

Nietzsche had some good points, but most of them wrong. I'd like to think he did that on purpose simply to create controversy (My BEST opinion of him). If not, I don't think he quite understood what faith really is, or what it's worth.

I frequently quote *velvet goldmine lyrics* in my sleep *posts*

though faith is often a seperate thing from religion entirely...unfortunate that is.

Can you believe people called him insane for his statements? Makes you wonder, eh? Has judgements of the entire being based on religious beliefs even changed within the past hundred years? My answer-not a bit.

  • Noir

I actually in a sense agree with Neitzsche in that "God is dead"....But from a the view of today's world...

We no longer hold the morals and values from our puritianian forefathers...But rather we actually now that I look at the world, we no longer worship our forefather's God but merely created our own Gods which we called "Vanity" and "Inferiority"

  • Anthony

I think religion is just an invention and tool of man to bring ppl to have morals and a sense of society with death. think about it if a deitey created the whole universe who or what created the whole deitey? however it is comforting to have some since of religion and were u belong. maybe that is all that religion is, a way to have a sence of were u, and every1 else for that matter belong. Now because of that it has caused many ppl to become insane like the homeless guys running around new york with "the end is near'' signs attached to them and the inquisitions[sp] and witch trials.

    -I say '' THE END IS HERE!''LoL

Okay im not religious enough to answer my own question so...

if god forgives all, and if jesus died in order to allow us to still go to heaven after we have sinned then why the heck is there a hell. ??

  • Alex Marlatt

    Anytime Anthony. :) Lol.

Why is there "new twist" in the title of this thread if it's not the first thread titled thusly? It's not a new twist anymore.

Anyways, I concede that yes, religion gives people hope. But a vast majority of religious people (especially the one in the more prominent religions i.e. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, ect.) take religiousness way to far. Often refusing to associate with people of other beliefs. Religion has started wars and genocides (or more correct would be 'religionocides') for millenia. One important event that incorperated both this war-mongering and 'religionocide' was the Thirty Years War. Which took place in Germany (Other countries were involved such as France) and killed anywhere from 15% to 66% of the population depending on the area you're talking about. It left Germany in ruins and the countryside devastated. There is also the current calamity in Northern Ireland between Catholic Irish and Protestant Englishmen. The list goes on and on. The cons of religion vastly outweighs the pros. Sure it gives hope to people... but you should not need vague promises and barely veiled threats of eternal torment to give you hope.

Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. -- Psalm 137:9

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and ... offer him there for a burnt offering.... And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. -- Genesis 22:2,10

He that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death. -- Exodus 21:15

He that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. -- Exodus 21:17

These are quotes from thet 'Holy' Bible..
    and they disgust me...

My respect for Christianity is now lost.

  • Alex Marlatt

^ Haha, amen to that. Some of the stuff in the 'Holy' Bible is really sick and twisted and people go on thinking it is ok? Why it's so messed up for crying out loud! How can they think a cruel god like, God, who would destroy cities and convince fathers to slay sons and destroy all of humanity in a great flood out of his 'Holy Wrath' could ever love them? Love is unconditional, you don't damn someone for eternity because they believe differently than you believe, especially when you make them as they are. In which case it's even more messed up.

    ^^Wow...

You both are soo cool by spewing regurgitated intellectual critique on Christianity...Bravo (Note the sarcasm)

Christianity at that time was actually needed, and whatever was to be done was to be done. And trust me if you lived at those times, you would probably be crying your eyes out, clasping your hands and praying for someone (preferably God) to save your miserable pathetic soul...

Christianity now is nothing more than an out dated religion failed to abide the by rules of mordernity. But it was needed way back when...And that is to be respected...

Man, some people make me laugh...I swear Ha Ha Ha...

  • Alex Marlatt

^ Wow, you are sooo cool for using words like 'regurgitated' and 'intellectual'. Hot damn, I wish I had a big fancy vocabulary like you.

You can accept my view or not. And trust me, those times weren't as bad as you would think. It was no more frightening than modern times. And Christianity was never really needed. Why? Because before Christianity there were hundreds of other religions that performed the same exact role. But hey if that is your belief who the hell am I to judge? The person above me and I were just discussing our respective beliefs which is why this thread was created.

So tell me, if it were a couple of Christians would you have jumped down their throats for 'spewing regurgitated religious talk' or would you have let it slide? I'm thinking the latter because nine out of ten Christians are largely hateful of other belief systems.

  • Anthony

Woot woot!! Alex is a genius. Way to go alex i think you just expressed everyones thoughts with that.

  • AGirlWorthFightingFor

Yeah, God was a bastard in the beginning...

I don't think people associate Nietzsche's insanity to his work, though his mind was deteriating physically when he was finishing his last work. I think the insanity was more a product of that.

Anyone that of course thinks he's insane for other reasons - save for maybe the incest, ew - is lame.

  • Noir

Really Alex, I am soo cool for using big fancy vocabulary...Well this is a literary site...You're suppose to use big fancy words...I presume the word "Duh" would be a good choice of word at this moment.

Actually Alex, you're wrong in your thinking, Christianity was actually needed when it was infact introduced. The Roman people (for example) began believing in an omnipotent monothetistic God rather than a pantheon of personifications. Because of this rather sudden acceptance and conversion of their people, the Roman Emperor demanded that all Christians were to be either put on the stake or be fed to the lions. Believing in one entity was very logical at that time...

I believe that monotheism in that era was a new phenomenon, Christianity sprang out of the Jewish faith, and so on and so forth.

It was also needed in that era because it was a form of social unity and it is the one religion that can adapt to another culture/s. Unlike the Jewish faith.

"But hey if that is your belief who the hell am I to judge?"

Lol, it's not my belief, but rather I actually took the side of these Christians because you tactlessly mocked their faith...And I am sorry that is no way to go in this types of discussions...

"The person above me and I were just discussing our respective beliefs which is why this thread was created."

Actually this thread was created long before...Hint on the sentence "Again, religion, new twist. Let's fight!! 2"...The first thread was not recieved well, and I along with many other posters have said that it was a foolish idea to make a thread asking us to fight on our beliefs...

"So tell me, if it were a couple of Christians would you have jumped down their throats for 'spewing regurgitated religious talk' or would you have let it slide? I'm thinking the latter because nine out of ten Christians are largely hateful of other belief systems."

Are you looking at this from a cross-cultural viewpoint or are you basing this on the American idea of what a christian should be? And also may I know where you cited that information from, because last time I checked, Christians were pretty friendly people, like all religious and non religious people.

How funny...That you show the same hate against Christians as you claim they do for other belief systems...

This was highly entertaining in the sense, I actually met someone who knows nothing about what he is saying....Ha Ha Ha...
