What is with P&Q these days?

I remember back a couple of years ago, every new comment i got was constructive in some way. It helped or would point out mistakes I had made. Lately all i've been getting is

    "great job,
    nice poem,
it was a pretty good read
    nice...."

I mean i can understand and appreciate the fact that some fellow poets would take the time to complement my work, but once in awhile it would be nice if it was constructive, wouldnt it be?

    Anyone else notice this?

    I know.
I also used to get a lot of comments in general.
Now the bad poets get the good attetion and good poets are getting downrated. Wow.

But, seriously. If you are going to leave a comment, let's do it right people. I leave honest comments and don't sugarcoat them even if they're my friends.
    So.
Thanks for starting this, it's about time someone did.

I try to give constructive critizism... but i always say what i liked first... then i tell them what could've been a bit better...

I personally believe i have never got a constructive comment. lol ok maybe i have, 1 or 2. very rare though nowadays. sometimes it seems like the person didn't even read the damn poem at all! like they just left some 'nice' comment', and they think thats just what im looking for. why would i ask for comments unless i needed help and critics? i mean, 1 liner 'nice' comments dont help! :/ ok, thats kind of what you gus ^^^ said, but i agree with his thread, and i needed somewhere to ramble on the subject too =] Great point guys!
btw, uh, you know if anyone out there does constructive-critic-helpful comments, leave me one for my latest, i REALLY need help!
    Nuff luv xx

Well it has to do with Commenting so I feel this is a nice place for plenty of the people who comment to read and notice what we are talking about.

I never feel like I have gotten downrated, but more gyped of good comments.

I mean I try my hardest everytime I leave a comment to leave something I liked, and something that could have been fixed to make the poem better. I miss the old days.

I give constructive criticism, but I have always gotten crappy comments on my poems when they are in the top rated... I dunno why. I recieve many good ones, but more bad ones. It seems people no longer have the time to give a constructive comment...

Everytime I rate I give construct critism. It's rare that I ever give a comment without something to change, but there are comments out there.

I don't know, though, I seem to be downrated a lot and I seem not to get any good comments unless I have to beg for them. It's rather said, but I want my poetry reviewed. =/.

I'm brand new to this site, and i was reading through the discussion topics, and this one caught my eye. i believe that it is good to get constructive criticism, and i will definitely give you some if you return the favor. so far, i have only gotten praise for my poems, which is definitely a confidence booster, but i'm always looking for ways to make them better. the only thing i worry about is saying something constructive and then having somebody freak out at me and think i was being rude or obnoxious or something when i was just trying to help. but i will gladly give all of you some of my opinions and what i think could be better.

    alright. thanks. =].

I try to give good constructive comments when i notice something is wrong with the poem. but sometimes i habe know way of fixing the poem because to me its great, or sometimes i just don't know what is off. but i always let people know if i feel that there is something off, and they need to read through it.

    ><

id also like to point out...

why don't people tell you they down rate you. i'm fine with not everyone thinking my poems are incredibly fabulous, but i want to know why.

^^ well some people down vote because they are 'jealous' < not sure lol.

I also feel the same. I try to give constructive comments but some poems don't need 'constructive comments' because it's already a great poem.

I dont want anymore one line stuff. I want to improve my poetry. Thanx for posting this thread or whatever it's called.

Sometimes I dont like a poem, but it's got like a 5 star rating and 50 votes and Im afraid to say I dont like it. So i just write a quick thing about the thing I did like. (This only happened twice)

I feel bad. but I really want constructive critisism

    please

I try to comment consructive.. I am a new poet myself and sometimes I cant "Help fix" other poems when I cant even do mine. I try my hardest to help others out if I see a problem that I could help fix of course I do. Anyway I will try harder to help fix poems..

I think thats what it is with some of the people who give one line comments. Is that they dont feel the way they see the poem is right, remember, your comment if YOUR IDEA of the poem, not just what the person above you had already posted on the poem.

If you think the poem would sound better with this there instead of that, then point it out so there's something they can look at fixing.

It doesnt matter if youre a new writer trying things out, or an old poet revising someone elses work, your VIEW on the poem wont change if your either. You might know a little more about the format or style they've chosen, but you still perceive the poem as YOU read it.

Yea, i mean when i leave comments, i try to show everything that was good about it, and things that needed to be fixed

i mean the point of comments is to get better

and not to know that they didnt read it and just put a one liner

Good point. And with the down-voting. Im not sure what it is. Some of these poems Ive read should not be anythin lower than 4.5 and theyre down at 4 or possibly 3. something. Its either jealousy of the other poets/newer poets, or some people just have nothing better to do with their lives.

Honestly there shouldnt be as many 5 poems or authors on here as there are. Some of my poems I cant see how they're still fives or 4.9 considering poems by fts miles or itallion stallion are sittin at 4.2 because some little bugger decides that its funny.
