Masked

by Beautiful Tragedy   Dec 5, 2014

The mask I wear is pretty,
But only I can see,
The pain that i'm enduring,
What my past has done to me.

I'm masked so I won't hurt you,
So that you won't walk away,
My life is a bloody masquerade,
My heart is covered in the painful words you say.

My mask covers the true me,
hiding the tears I silently cry
The razor kissed skin on my left arm,
Shows a glimpse of every lie.

If you take off the mask you'll uncover
a scared girl cowering in fear,
tear stained cheeks and a suicidal heart,
So dark you won't get near.

I can't promise not to hurt you,
I can't promise not to tear you apart,
But if you tear my mask off,
Then this is where you start:

Glue me back together
show me that you care
don't make empty promises,
reassure me you'll be there

Love me like I'm worth it,
Hate me like I'm not
Show me that I'm wanted,
Give me all you've got.

As common as this theme is especially with your demographic based on your profile i like that you at least attempted to put a personal spin on this piece. I love that you made this personal by talking about the marks on your left arm and how you feel towards others feeling this way. Interesting write, again despite being a common theme.

I am definitely a fan of your imagery however I do think you could have spiced the style up just a bit
