Who Are We?

I heard that the first person
that you think of in the morning
is either the cause of your happiness,
or the cause of your pain. So guess
what? You have excelled at being
both; my heaven and my hell.

You mistook my disguise; I was
not the remedy you bade, simply
the salt that kept your wounds alive!

And it was I who sought the aches
in you, but you? I never knew what
it was that kept you near those
eternally burning fires.

My demons were entrapped in your
hell, but it's the closet thing I had to
a home. We burned together, feeding
the darkness within with one another.

You ignite and I come to life!

Then I awake once again only to
wonder ... was I your Heaven or
your Hell......?
