Fisherman, in the Lake of Love

by Everlasting   Jul 23, 2014

Anchor me to you like in a boat going fishing
Let me drown in jealousy within the profundities of a lake
As you wait for fishes to fall for your bait,
to be hook up to you.
And only for you
to become the fisherman of the town.

The one people talk about in markets.
The one people want to buy fishes from.
And then sell them to the crowds
For the fishes to be devoured, eaten
With no remorse

....

alive.

But don't forget,

Anchor me to you. Anchor me to you.

I might just never again let you steer your boat.

This write has a mystical as well as a haunting feel to
it. It talks about how the fisherman uses the lake
to catch all the fishes and not appreciate the lake instead bathing in all the glory and satisfaction he
gets. Finally, the lake decides to keep/take him in
her own way. I feel this poem has a message; that
we as humans at times don't appreciate what we
have or been given until it claims us. I also like how
the lake was given a voice, character and feeling.
    Well penned.
