Mom

Shades like the dark shades under your eyes
are shades like the shades
created by a tree under a sunny day.

They are where I find solace.

I look at your face and the shades are there.
I'm ill. Almost succumbing to the light.
But I look at your face and the shades are there.

They are where I take rest.
They are where I find strength.

Mom,

Shades like the dark shades under your eyes
are what are keeping me alive
Shades like the dark shades under your eyes
are where I rather stay.

It is with you where I find solace.

Wow, creative work! I love the connection between the dark shades beneath the eyes, to the shades under a tree. Beautiful comparison.

I like the loyalty throughout this poem, where the relationship of mother and daughter seems strong and bonded, and here is a daughter saying that their mother is their solace, their place of comfort and safety.

    Lovely work.

It is quiet stunning piece. You use opposite elements in the unique ways.

"Almost succumbing to the light" -
Interesting and original, rather than succumbing to the mandatory dark.
