State of Mind

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 24, 2008

When I say I'm in a Special Space,
It's not an idle cliche',
But a true expression of something new
That I'm allowing myself to enjoy
Without the guilt-edge that past-while
Has tempered the great joys of my life.

I don't pretend to understand why,
At this particular time, space, situation,
I should be afforded the opportunity
To lucidly appreciate this world:
The river, the walk, Casa Rio, ethereal.

I'm mildly amused at my dubious wonder.
The plaintive and wearisome cry, "Why me?"
So often and ill-used by earth's suffering legions,
Sounds tinny and absurd when uttered by one
Who questions the Spirit of leading me
To verdant pastures and sweet waters.
