Everybody's Fool

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   May 16, 2008

Giving in and giving out
between two polar extremes
losing friends and falling down
reshaping one's identity

giving in to their demands
and giving out to open hands
begging, pleading, wanting more
of all you do not have in store

drained and beaten past repair
now ascend a mountain of stairs
climb into bed for a moment's rest
from being everybody's best

dreaming of such simpler times
of laughing with your friends from school
knowing that the dreams must end
and once more you'll be everybody's fool
