Bitter sweet memories

by Elapsed   Jun 2, 2008

The glow of the sun lost its appeal long ago
Destiny had come and gone within a blink of an eye
Weeping discarded tears that time will forget
Often conjuring visions of what may have become

This winter has chilled me to the bone
Depressing songs playing in a failing sunlight
Lonely nights, my thoughts and a bottle of wine
Winter always brings back those bitter sweet memories

Gazing down upon this translucent figure
Placing one foot in front of another
Bearing in mind places once travelled
As I stride large, within a hapless desire

Nice to have you back Sam.....

What a sad poem...Winter can be so depressing...and those sad love songs will do it to you! Getting over a lost love can seem like an eternity....as you so very well stated

    Sam!!!!!
This piece was so real and heartfelt and flowed beautifully, it worked Sam, you got it out, you wrote a poem and Sam this is brilliant, was so vivid. Writing with our emotions sad or happy are always amazing, Sam you are a "sunlight" to me and all your friends here, we are here for you, just like you've been for us.
Sam exellent poem, I'm proud to see you writing again

    Sam,
So glad to see you writing again.
This poem speaks of so much sadness, and I know the winter well and it's toll on someone. It seems as though the dreariness and dark of winter has a depression of it's own. You have such an amazing ability to make the reader feel your emotions when writing. I pray that everything is okay.
As for the poem itself, the lines....

^^Depressing songs playing in a failing sunlight

There is just something about this one line that brings the poem full circle. I pictured myself there and felt the pain.

As for the rest of the poem, your feelings are conveyed and I wish nothing but happiness for you and that whatever, whomever has you depressed that you will once find joy in the sun again.

    Your Friend,
    Kay
