A Poet's Life

by Robert Daniel Long   Aug 10, 2008

Unspoken words
Fill my heart
I take up my pen
And begin to write
Thoughts
Flood my soul

Almost to the point
Of tears

Emotions are heavy
Conviction has a hold of me
Yet
I can't write
Fast enough to keep up

I listen
And carefully
So I can here
Every word
Spoken to my heart

So
As to the ability blessed
They flow
Onto the paper
Which my pen rests on

In rhythm
And in rhyme
Each sentence scribbled down
Is a reference
Guiding you

To a place
Or point in time
Where things begin
Or start to unwind

Such is the life
Of a poet
They're blessed by GOD
To pen the songs
From the heart
The very heart of GOD
