Taken

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Apr 1, 2009

This isn't my best, I needed more time. Perhaps I'll write another. Lesthat's not an easy subject for me.
---
Fondly I've remembered you with a sadness in my heart,
ever since the day was declared your soul had to depart.
Do you hear me think when all thoughts are about you
as I sit and think about your life that went askew?

Again I see that face of yours, that smile and those eyes,
and then my thoughts are woken up by your family's cries.
The tears they sob of love and pain trickle down their cheeks
as emotions gather into words, but words that no one speaks.

A friend, a son, a brother, and father, all these things you were.
Now looking back on your small life it all seems a shameful blur.
Never will I hear your voice or meet you face to face.
I'm only left with memories known and a lost life to trace.

I think of how you died, how a drunk took you away...
Took out all your color and left you dead and gray.
Brought into the world with many gifts to be laden,
taken away at eight-teen was Lesthat Hayden.

This is an excellent write, the meaning is deep and the words fit in so well. You have delivered deep emotions as well - it could be with the tools you had to work with I presume. Heavenly metaphors flowed as a gentle breeze in the spring of passions, I could feel the rhythm of your heart expressing your loss. Good Contrasts between happy moments and bitter ones. I understand the pain in this poem all to well.

    Peace and Love, Joe
