Is this your god?

by Beauty In The Breaking   Apr 16, 2010

We butcher and kill in the name of god
saying it's his will,
we critize and torment and make life a hell
for someone of a different view
than the one that we see right,
is this what you make your religion?

Hatred, predjadice and put downs,
torment them till they want to die,
this is what you've turned faith into,
your god of love and forgiveness
into an excuse for your faults
and a reason to hurt one another.

You say that we need saving,
that we have walked astray
and fallen out of his grace
but who are you to judge that
when you have no right to judge
anyone but yourself?

You've confused the line between right and wrong
in your quest to save the world,
instead of fighting your brothers and sisters
don't you think you should show love?
If you are a embodiment of your god
then why would I want to follow?

    Hi great poem.
I really know what you mean, how the prejudice, discrimination, hatred and disdain of Man can turn even the most pure and honorable of faith into an abomination. How people try to force their beliefs on others throw intimidation and fear soiling its true meaning. Good work. Keep at it
