Hidden You

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Apr 17, 2010

Stripped down to the point of survival,
That's when you see life anew.
You await your new identity's arrival,
Only to know it was the hidden you.

We often don't appreciate what we have,
Unless it slips or is about to fly away.
Why is it that we wish to have a sunny weather,
When the sky suddenly starts to turn grey?

Learning to see life's beauty,
Is most clear when the ugliness prevails.
We learn the invaluable lessons,
That are conveyed through life's tales.

Don't you see how mockingbirds sing,
On the branches of a tree destroyed by wind?
It's not hard to look at the simplest things,
Through which mother nature's signs she sends.

I still believe that life is beautiful,
Adversity makes us look at it anew.
It introduces you to your stronger self,
Only to know it was the hidden you.

* Because without the bitter, baby, the sweet ain't as sweet - from the movie, " Vanilla Sky."

Excellent message and I loved it. As already said we do tend to keep our real self hidden. Good imagery and emotion. Keep writing.

We do tend to keep our real self hidden from others, perhaps fear of trusting them or being hurt. I was lucky enough to know a special person that I could be the real me with. Loved all the images and the message in your words. Well done.
