Moonlit Masquerade

by Beautiful Forever   Jun 28, 2010

A dark-lit moon sets the stage
The masquerade is about to begin
He takes off his time-worn hat
A bow delivered, with sincerity

Clouds move to set the mood
A dance performed, her best
Flashing white teeth in a smile
Her sky-blue dress unravels

The sky clears, their eyes meet
His broad shoulders ready for embrace
A hand placed on her waist gently
Slow movements in a lunar lullaby

Dawn approaches as a shooting star
Curtains close to flowers flying
The audience of stars fade away
Sun rises, awakening true romance...

I do like this a lot and while it has many memorable lines, they didnt flow completely together but stood more like isolated statements or momentary thoughts.
The 'flowers flying' in the last stanza didnt connect with me Im afraid.
You may think from the above that I disliked this piece, but I did like it and of course that is the important thing.
    Well done poet.
