Bound

by Inside the Liar   Dec 21, 2010

There are days
when I want nothing more
than to pack up, strip down,
and swim away from you.

Under the constraints
that have been placed upon me
by a former lover,
I am stuck in this position.
Knees on the ground.
Face turned up -
Chronically begging.

The two of you -
Past and present -
resemble each other in no discernible
way.
And yet you are so alike.

You hold the strings that
wrap themselves tight
round every limb and whim
in my worthless body.
And when you pull them
I agree and obey all you say
and do.

There are days
when I want nothing more
than to pack up, strip down,
and swim away from you.

The strings, however, are tied.
And I am bound.

This was a wonderful piece Skye :] I really liked the imagery you used as well as the whole concept of the poem. I can really relate to what you're saying about being stuck in the same situation. A very beautiful poem dear :] glad to see you writing again. Nik

there is a lot of sadness bound in your words. How hard it is to let go of someone and move on with your life.
    Good Job!

Bound by love or feelings for another can be a good thing or a bad thing. Parts say to me that a old love and those feelings are keeping you bound and afraid or unable to give to a new love.
