Incompatible.

by Courageous Dreamer   Jun 30, 2011

Pepper flakes lay on
your tongue furtively
'neath a shell of ebullience,
and like petrichor,
I felt insouciant to your lips
that tasted of scarlet passion
yet were of hot coal when awakened;

for you were an elision
and all I dreamt of,
sculpted like Chimera -
a lion's head swollen with courage,
a dragon's tail as my talisman
all sprouted from a goat's body
like that of a Capricorn.

While you held qualities
I yearned to love,
it was too foolish to believe
in something I could never have;
we were never compatible -
for I was symbolic of a crab.

    I liked this poem. Nicely written. The wording was great. The flow was good. It is also a good length, not to long or to short. Nicely done :)

    I know you had a hard time for this because of the word restriction (or too many words! lol) and what not, but I think you did this with ease. This is beautiful poetry, I absolutely love the creativity.

    The end of the first stanza, I read it a few times, should "awaken" be "awakened" ??

    This is so unique and creative, I love where you went with this and seriously have never seen anything like it. I've nominated it ;) Hope ya don't mind! LOL
