Dream of Innocence

by Maple Tree   Jan 9, 2012

Starved the innocence of my sweet smile last night
Anointing dry eyes with poisoned tears
Traveled a journey of painful past emotions
Drowning in withered wings of broken promises
Within pure dreams he sang to me
My lover of forever and always
Releasing the chains that bound me for eternity
Making love to an old soul who wishes to fly
Waking at dawn, I was set free
For my heart now breathes again...

So far, this is my favourite. I got 2 complete different things from this poem it surprised me completely. The first half I could relate to with that special person who accepts and loves you after knwoing all you have been through. When you described about the past this is how I felt, that there is so much back there but for me this one person accepted that with no questions asked.

The second part I got from this was the feeling of suffocation and being trapped inside a cage. Like waking from an awful dream you could breathe again.

I got a lot fo images from this one, different each time I read it. Clever poem. xx
