Captain's Vow

by xoxShorteexox   Feb 15, 2013

Violently the waves slapped against the sides of the ship,
pressuring the captain to make drastic moves for safety,
yelling for all crew members to hold onto anything they could,
and saying softly prayers to the Gods above that they make it.

The vessel's momentary swaying causing some breaking sounds,
wood chips flying over the bow of the ship where screams echoed,
taking on water the captain vowed to go down with the ship,
the crew fled on lifeboats as thirty foot swells tried to take them down.

Yelling mayday, mayday into the ship's radio for help with no prevail,
the captain still willing to go down with his life's dream, but still desiring life,
screaming out for the Gods to save his soul from Davy Jones' locker,
drowning may be his fate, but he can't leave his girl to drown alone.

As water began to fill his lungs and he slowly asphyxiated on it,
he still held onto the wheel like any devoted captain would,
closing his eyes for fear of seeing how his fate will soon look,
with his dream girl and his skeleton sitting on the ocean floor.
