Done Fighting

by No1ButMe   Jun 25, 2013

The words that I hate the most
Coming out of your mouth
"Are you done fighting me?"
Because I start out happy
But then you pin me down
Keeping me against my will
Draining the life out of me
And my happiness turns to anger
That anger builds up
Taking over me,
My tempature goes up
And I want nothing more
Then freedom
I struggle and I struggle
But nothing
So I fall into hopelessness
I can't win, I can't fight
I am nothing of use
My freedom is gone
And then comes those words
"Are you done fighting me?"
Yes, because I am done fighting
Period
And that's when you should be worried....

This was a powerful and emotionally building piece. I could feel the intensity when you first mention the question you were asked, and then having it repeated later on in the poem shows that release of emotion, of desire to have freedom. I really felt just a tiredness at the final lines....like a last plea to be heard that a part of you is ready to try and fight for yourself, and that's scary...anything could happen then.

An expressive piece from simply stating your lifelessness then finalizing it to the reader that there is no chance at freedom.

Don't give up yet, look ahead.
    Keep writing!
