Reminiscence

by Sunshine   Jun 20, 2016

There are things
that nothing can replace
empty seats
that you carry around.

Like those vintage moments
that only exist at the level
of your imagination
and those heavy moments
that never existed
in the first place,
but weigh you down
on the inside.

There are things
that you can never change
things that do not matter,
silly stitched pieces of art
that reflect nothing
but pale pages of your life.

Neglected spirits that roam
in your head
whenever provoked
by irrational sentiments.

Such are the priceless moments
that nothing can replace,
those that only exist
at the level of imagination..

    Hello Nana,

    Lovely piece, well written:)

Isn't it funny how our inner world can sometimes be richer and fuller than our outside world could ever be? Maybe especially so for creative people, who have so much to bring into reality of what was first just an inner richness:)

    Well done, worthy win xxx

Just love the first stanza. How many times have we looked at empty seats that were once used by a loved one, a space at the table, the favourite chair unoccupied. You have written a very powerful piece here that is stacked with emotion. So many good lines that resonate with your reader.
This piece had me thinking which I like and was one of the first I thought of after reading all entries. 4 points
