The little things

by Alex Penuelas   Feb 23, 2017

We focus so much
On how we are different,
And we divide ourselves up
By many labels.

When in reality,
There are so many things
That we have in common.

Small things,
Little things in life
That we can all
Relate to.

Have you ever walked up
A flight of stairs
and thought that there was
An extra step,
When there wasn't?

Then you take that extra elongated step
And hit nothing but air,
So you lump around like a chimp
For about 5 seconds?

Or how about when you're walking
Downstairs?
And you think that there's an extra step?
Then you take an extra low step
And squat.

Then you have to squat
For a couple seconds
So that people think
That's how you walk
All the time?

Or when you get coffee
At your local coffee shop
And the barista tells you
To "Enjoy your coffee!"
And you reply
"Thanks, you too" ?

Or when you text
That really silly drunk text
To the wrong number,
Then you find out about it
The next day?

Or when you
Lose your phone
When you're talking
To your friend
On the phone.

And you ask him
"Bro I think I
Lost my phone",
And he replies:
"Have you tried
Calling it?"
