Torrid

by Aegis   Mar 21, 2017

I've always had a fascination with fire.
Even a simple strike of a match
would consume my
attention.

But lately,
the burn of your fingertips across
my skin
rivals that of your eyes-
a fiery forest swallowed up,
leaving nothing but twinkling embers
in it's wake.

I still remember the sound of
crackling skin on my chest as a red
hot iron branded it's mark over my
heart years ago.
But only yesterday your smile
blasted into my mind
burning just as bright as the evening
sun that first day I saw you.

And maybe I'm a masochist...
But there's something about the way
your eyes flash in the middle of the
night that sets my soul ablaze-

and I'm beginning to love the
smell of smoldering flesh.
