Someday

by Aegis   Mar 21, 2017

This rain falls on more than just my head. It
creeps and trickles
                     down
                          down
                              down
towards
my battered soul.

I've made a raft of those crafty
illusions you conjured to
capture my attention
-damn those pretty
little lips of yours-
but even hopes and dreams
deflate.

Much like the fog outside my door
you mock me;
haunting me with your presence
yet eluding my grasp (believe me,
I tried to catch you.)

But you won't have it,
will you?

No, you're far too headstrong
for that.
Just one fleeting glance -or a solitary
gaze in my direction- and you
could have me safely
on the shore.

Instead,
your eyes cast me into stone.
And I am left
                        sinking
                   sinking
             sinking
back into the watery
depths you call

"someday"
