Regret

by SABRINA   Apr 18, 2017

It was bright that day,
before everything,
turns black.

It wasn't the rope that killed you,
it was us.

We were the one,
who were supposed to got your back
yet we let you down.

The thought that,
if we had done something,
maybe you'd still be here.

Because, you see,
when there's suicide,
there is regret.

But of course,
the regret we are feeling,
is nothing compared to what you felt.

Days turn into weeks,
weeks turn into months,
months turns into year.

The regrets?
It never goes away.

Sabrina, welcome to P&Q! A thoughtful write that totally makes sense. What actions lead up to someone killing themselves? We're we helpers or hindrances? A lot of food for thought. Well done-

    Welcome to the site, Sabrina.

I was thinking the other day that it is so often not the actual act that is to blame in any aspect of life, but the events leading up to it. This reminds me of that. Prevention is the key but that's not always easy at all.

Well done and all the best,

    Ben

A neat simple write that speaks volumes.
    Warm welcome to P&Q.
A sad yet a simply wonderful write.

`It wasn't the rope that killed you, it was us.`
    - this line left a kind of feeling I do not know to describe...beautifully sad.

The loss of a loved one, especially through suicide indeed leaves behind regret and sadness that can never so easily be erased. Each word is filled with such delicate sadness that reaches the reader.
    Loved the read.
