Eggshells Of Phoenix

by CJ Maleney   Dec 6, 2017

If the eggshells upon which we tread finally crumbled to dust, would you still love me?
Would all those delicate things break us? As we break them?

If "the ocean I promised to you" I cannot deliver! Would the salt solution of my tears be enough?
So small a thing yet so significant a thing!

If the world I promised can not be anything other than my own, would knowing you are my world be enough?

When I fail to be your strength and your protector would you be mine, knowing I have nothing to fear other than myself?

When the darkness fills me, will you still be my light? When the chills flow straight through me? will you still be my warmth?

When the anger takes you, can I hold you and let it devolve to nothing?
When the anger takes me, would you hold me?

When you look into my eyes can you still the adoration? Or just the little circles of azure?

I look deeper

I see the blue in you and the things you hold true.
I see your dark, and your light, your spirit and your fight
I've loved you for so long, I see and know all that you desire,

So long as you wish me to be so?

"I am still your fire"

!We can rise from the flames!

      Thank you,

The start of this poem came as the result of your punctuation thread. I thought I would run with it and see where it would lead.
