Married To The High

by Bleu   Feb 24, 2018

On a sunny day, with skies of Blue.
She straightens her hair and fastens her shoes.
This is it, the day they were all waiting for.
"Please, guide me, help me, Lord."

She was not one to pray, not one to ask for help.
But, she needed clarity in all of the confusion she felt.
It was her wedding day, yet heartache filled her mind.
Thinking of a love she had left behind.

Far too many people never know true love.
Had she let it go for a few ounces of her favorite drug?

She awakens, her hair stuck to her forehead with sweat.
Grabs a needle to see how high she can get.
"Just once more,
I promise, Lord."

All she wanted was to get back to that place.
A man in a tux, yet she could not see his face.
A wedding gown, a ring on her finger to the left..
The face greeting her, welcoming her; death.
