Natures old master

by Michael   Jul 11, 2018

An age-old golden artist glows
as it meanders upon a journey,
socialising with nature along the way.

rays carve through the air, displaying
an exquisite scenic route
along its path

..with a final showdown
drawing near.

a palette-
laden with succulent dusky colours
are scooped-up;
and spread across an olive canvas
where a floral sunset suffuses

pink, crepuscular roses, hints of violets
and lashings of tangy primrose

( with wisps of moody foliage )

exhibit a bouquet of waves
brushing the linings of clouds
with a scintillating garnish

as this spectacular showpiece, simmers
the old master fades gracefully
beyond the horizon
and the landscape is oiled with a silhouette
marinade ..

..and the moon comes to whisper..

“flattery will get you everywhere”

Am I reading a poem or looking at Afremov's painting! This is exceptional. I very well remember the last time I saw a perfect painting in my mind through a poem - it was about four years ago - and I have treasured it all this while, but you have surpassed that imagery I once witnessed. This is very beautiful. Though I wonder, is this old master 'God'?

Michael :) Oh how you tantalize us with your beautiful words!! This piece is absolutely wonderful, and so alluring, like each word is just dripping with sweet honey dew drops. And that ending!! My oh my. Your writing gives me chills and makes my knees weak lol and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Beautiful work, as always!! (<3)

I haven't picked up my pencils in quite a while. Yet this makes me want to. Perhaps I have misconstrued the meaning. Never the less it's what it made me feel like I wanted to do (inspiration comes in many forms).
