It Will Never Take You From Me

by Carmen   Mar 29, 2005

I remember that day,
And what my mom had to say.
I teased you and called you names,
Hating myself after hearing the news that came.

My mom told me to calm down,
And she started to frown.
She told me I better be nice,
Or I'd soon pay the price.

She said to me that my brother might have cancer,
And I was so shocked, I didn't answer.
I was drowned in a rain of guilt,
All of his pain, I now felt.

She told me he didn't know,
That cancer was his foe,
And I wasn't allowed to tell him,
That his life was running thin.

I was nice after that,
Knowing the fate he might have.

The day of truth finally came,
And me, my parents had to tame.
The news that they had to say,
Was that my brother was going to be okay.

I love you Samson, I hope you can see,
And I'll never ever, let it take you from me.

My mother had gone through that whole ordeal except she did have it. A simple procedure solved it all though. Thank God! Truly lucky we are! Just one of those God given lessons that make life so much better. I think there's a message to be heard in this poem and I definitely like that. Nice write! :)
