Empty

by twisted reality   Sep 18, 2006

Her empty soul fills the air,
As the autumn breeze flows through her hair.
She remembers that dreadful day,
When no one knew exactly what to say.

Empty heart,
Pulled apart,
While he passed,
It went so fast.

He lives beneath that polished stone,
With all his flesh and all his bone.
That horrible, deadly disease,
Left us all empty without glee.

Empty souls,
Take their toll,
Tears are shed,
Filled with dread.

" 'Til death do us part."
Not her;she will never start,
To love another you.
She will never be that untrue.

Empty eyes,
From the cries.
Battered hearts,
Fall apart.

I can definitely see the meaning, but the flow is a little off, especially the last line of the first stanza. Maybe you could replace 'exactly' with 'just'? I don't know, it just seems like it has too many syllables.

The third stanza is really good, though. The first two lines really get the point across; that he's dead but was alive not long ago.

All in all, the flow could definitely be better. But good word choice for the most part, and the meaning is strong.

This was a very sad poem, but a very good dedication. A person's life is so very precious, to every person that they have touched as well. Well written poem.
