Take another shot

by Molly Elizabeth   Jan 24, 2007

...and we'll all take another shot
in hopes to forget our past,
let go of another painful memory
feel everything and nothing
numb to all hope, power, love
not imaging who's heart we'll shatter in the process,
or who will pick up our broken pieces in the morning...
it's here and now
only looking for a good time
without a care in the world.
Defenseless, and heartless
lacking all sensibility of what's wrong, and what's right.

In the morning we'll regret tonight
we know this
yet, we deny it- drinking yet another. Picking ourselves up,
with every awkward fall.
Living for the moment,
blindly making decisions we really don't want to make.
Because tonight, we don't care that we've lost all control, made so many mistakes, and acted like such a fool.
We won't remember much of this anyway...

In the morning we'll say never again, we'll mope about yet another error.
We'll take our painkillers,
and go about yet another day..
in hopes one of these days life will all come back together.
Praying that this isn't as good as it gets,... and just days later
we'll revert back to the this intoxication we know as well as breathing...
taking shot, after shot
again losing all feeling...
all sense of control
because this is what society states
as having a good time.
Throwing our lives, impulsively away...
